Situated in a quiet corner off Kings Road, this contempory, chic and progressive Japanese Restaurant offers an alternative take of traditional sushi restaurants. Myself and my boyfriend went on a Sunday evening as a last minuet desision, we rang up to book a table, pre-warn them of my vegan diet and were immediately booked in. Ninty minutes later we were being seated in this sleek, modern restaurant under the increasingly infamous Geisha Muriel.
We were treated to the set course tasting menu which allowed us to try a range of the dishes on offer. Despite not having a specified vegan option there was no issue with catering for me. To start we enjoyed some edamame bean which were of course delicious especially when accompanied by one of KIRU’s delightful artisan cocktails.
Second course continued to impress with Jamie enjoying Tuna Sashimi and myself a simple yet well presented, light a flavourfull seaweed salad. When our third course arrived it was clear we were not going to be left hungry due to minuscule portions like many tasting menus’. Boat plates lined with delicious maki rolls were layed infront of us, both a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds. My vegetable maki rolls came crowned with delicately sliced avocado which complimented the crunchy vegetables beautifully.
For the fourth an final course we were presented with another incredible display of food art. Simple but delightful, exquisite and delicately flavoured asparagus stacked and coated with a sesame dressing. Perfectly cooked, crunchy and creamy this was a beautiful was to finish a wonderful meal.
