From the moment you step into the building you are transported to a world of art, music, fashion and luxury in this effortlessly cool and extraordinarily chic establishment. The walls of the room in which we shared our afternoon tea were awash with the quirky artworks by David Shringly and the room had a rosy hue with accents of gold. A truly extraordinary space combining a modern, cool and classic look.
We started our feasting session with a glass of dry and delicious pink champagne; we then selected our tea from the extensive menu on offer. All teas are freshly brewed with delightfully, delicate flavours. The whole rose bud herbal tea was particularly light and refreshing with a beautiful aroma.
Presented on a delicate three tier cake stand, we enjoyed an exquisite array of finger sandwiches, all of which had classic flavour combinations with a modern elegant twist. From the selection of savoury options we particularly enjoyed the comforting, indulgent and beautifully presented cheese toastie and the fresh fruity and crisp avocado, chutney and lettuce finger sandwich on soft white crust-less bread. To accompany the savoury delights there was a range of delicate petit fours to try. An impressive variety of mini cakes, pastries and macaroons was provided; each one was a flavour sensation from the sharp and fruity raspberry tart to the rich and smooth coconut compote.
Our next treat was a warm scone served with clotted cream, raspberry and fig jam. This British classic was as delicious as the menu suggested; the vegan scone was warm & comforting contrasting beautifully with the vibrantly sweet & sharp tasting fig jam.
We were both remarking upon how neither of us could eat another bite when a slice of chocolate torte was presented to us. There is always room for chocolate torte-especially a chocolate torte this stunning! It was decorated with fresh berries and tempered chocolate with a crumbly base and a rich soy deep chocolaty filling-a delight that simply couldn’t be missed.
