For a while now, pictures of people eating decadent bowls of banana ice cream have been taking over my timeline. Consisting of just frozen bananas this ice-cream has a surprisingly creamy taste and texture when blended and then adorned with an array of healthy toppings. It’s no surprise that this naughty, yet nice recipe, has become so popular.
It was only a matter of time before a shop serving this treat opened; the first one in London is a pop up shop just off Old Street station. Open for 3 months with a rotation of 6 flavours Monday-Saturday and then a “Sundae Special”, I couldn’t resist a visit! I popped in on the Friday afternoon with my fellow model/blogger friend Lauren aka. ‘Rawsome Reviews’ after a lunch time spin class. Friday is peanut butter day at Nanabar which was absolutely ideal for me as I am a nut butter fiend. For £8 you get a generous helping of banana ice cream and for a couple of extra pounds you get to add extra toppings including granola and nut butter (obviously I added all the possible extra toppings because go hard or go home is my motto when it comes to dessert).
Though quite pricey the ingredients are all really good quality, the portion sizes are generous and above all else – its delicious! So so so yummy and a lovely atmosphere at the shop. There was no scrimping on toppings and everything was made fresh to order so the ice cream’s consistency was thick and creamy straight from the blender.
I cannot wait to pop back and try some of the other flavours – mainly the rocky road on a Thursday!
